Massif Central – the green heart of southern France (working title)
2 x 43 Min. for SWR/Arte, to be completed in spring 2025
In the center of the Massif Central extends the Chaîne des Puys, about 80 volcanoes, and the largest collection of former fire mountains in Europe. The Monts de Cantal, a little further south, form the largest stratovolcano on the continent. In the Monts Dore, at 1,886 meters, the Puy des Sancy rises as the highest peak in the Massif Central. The mountain range is criss-crossed by rivers that meander through lonely plateaus or carve deep gorges. In the south, the massif tapers into the Cévennes, where the landscape becomes a more Mediterranean feel.
Among green volcanic hills, barren high plateaus and deeply incised river valleys, the two-part documentary introduces long-established farmers, urban newcomers and energetic conservationists who want to live not off, but with nature, with the smallest possible ecological footprint.
ERICH MARIA REMARQUE AND MARLENE DIETRICH (working title)
52 Min. for NDR/Arte, to be completed in spring 2025
What impact do displacement and war have on the emotional lives of refugees? In his second major global success after All QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, Erich Maria Remarque’s novel ARC DE TRIOMPHE deals with his own experience of exile and his ten-year, exhausting relationship with Marlene Dietrich, which the poet and the diva spent between the Côte d’Azur, Paris, Hollywood and New York.
The documentary traces the amour fou of these two world-famous emigrants, a journey through time that leads directly to our own present.
